The ancient city, included in the "World Heritage Site" list by UNESCO on 6 December 1985, was selected as one of the " New Seven Wonders of the World" on 7 July 2007. Petra is home to many astonishing structures with shelters carved into rock blocks, temples, rock tombs, water channels, theatres, colonnaded streets and primitive dams.
