DHAKA, BANGLADESH - FEB. 2, 2024: The Bishwa Ijtema, recognized as the world's second-largest Muslim gathering, was held on the banks of the river Turag in Tongi on the outskirts of Dhaka, capital city of Bangladesh, on Friday (Feb. 2).This three-day event is marked by a spread prayer meeting participated in by millions of devotees.The attendees engage in daily prayers, listen to recitations, and receive explanations of verses from the Quran. The culmination of the event involves the Akheri Munajat or Concluding Supplication.Bishwa Ijtema draws devotees from over 150 countries, with a significant representation from Bangladesh, the world's third-largest Muslim-majority country.The event, considered the largest festival in Bengali culture by population, remains a key gathering for Muslims worldwide, fostering a sense of religious unity and spiritual reflection.
