Thousands gather at Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem for Eid prayer
JERUSALEM - MARCH 30, 2025: Muslims gathered for the Eid al-Fitr prayer at Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem on Sunday, March 30, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.Hundreds of worshippers gathered at the mosque, Islam’s third holiest site, despite restrictions imposed by Israeli authorities.Muslims around the world celebrate Eid al-Fitr with prayers, feasts, and social gatherings marking the end of Ramadan's month-long dawn-to-dusk fasting. It is the first one of the two main festivals in Islam, the other being Eid al-Adha.Tension has been running high across the West Bank, where more than 940 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 7,000 others injured in attacks by the Israeli army and illegal settlers since the start of the Gaza onslaught on Oct. 7, 2023, according to the Health Ministry.The International Court of Justice declared Israel’s long-standing occupation of Palestinian territories illegal in July, calling for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.Reported by Ameer Abed Rabbo // Writing by Mustafa Tuncer
