DEIR AL-BALAH, GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - JULY 18: Israeli forces advanced the so-called 'Yellow Line' about 100 metres west in eastern Deir al-Balah on Saturday, July 18, expanding the area under their control and forcing Palestinian families living along the new boundary to leave their homes.Video showed newly placed yellow concrete barriers marking the expanded boundary, residents living beside the line, families loading their belongings before leaving the area and interviews with local residents describing the impact of the latest advance.Resident Saddam Khaled al-Luh said his family woke up to find the 'Yellow Line' had reached their neighborhood and that Israeli forces gave residents 12 hours to leave, leaving them with nowhere safe to go.Palestinian resident Fatma al-Luh said Israeli forces had advanced to the edge of her home, leaving her family with nowhere to go. She said she remained with her children because there was no safe place to flee.The “yellow line” is a security boundary imposed by Israel inside Gaza, with Palestinians barred from approaching areas near it. The zone encompasses more than 70% of the enclave.Israel continued to violate the ceasefire agreement that has been in effect since Oct. 10, 2025. According to Gaza's Health Ministry, Israeli ceasefire violations have killed more than 1,144 Palestinians and injured 3,703 others as of Friday.The ministry says Israel's military campaign in Gaza since October 2023 has killed more than 73,000 Palestinians and wounded over 173,000, while causing widespread destruction to about 90% of the enclave's civilian infrastructure.
