Hatayspor football player Christian Atsu's body repatriated to Ghana following earthquake tragedy
ACCRA, GHANA - FEBRUARY 19: Following the twin earthquakes in Kahramanmaras province of Türkiye, which caused the collapse of a residence in the Hatay district of Antakya and claimed the life of Hatayspor football player Christian Atsu, his body was repatriated to his home country of Ghana on Sunday (Feb. 19).The Turkish Airlines flight TK 629, carrying Atsu's body, landed at Kotoka International Airport in the Ghanaian capital of Accra.The casket, which was received at the airport by Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, ministers, family, and supporters, was transported to a private funeral home.The date for Atsu's funeral will be announced later.Atsu, who joined Hatayspor last year, had previously played for several European teams including Everton, Chelsea, and Newcastle United in the English Premier League, as well as Portuguese club Porto.He was a member of Porto's 2013 Portuguese championship squad.Atsu also scored 10 goals in 60 caps for Ghana.
