Drone footage shows Russia's largest coal mine of Borodinsky
KRASNOYARSK, RUSSIA - APRIL 28: An aerial footage from Russia's Krasnoyarsk region shows the country's largest coal mine with the length of the open-pit mine more than seven kilometres and with a width of two kilometres.Borodinsky coal mine, operated by the Siberian Coal Energy Company (SUEK), is an opencast coal mine located next to the village of Borodino in Rybinsky district.It was built from 1945 to 1949 by Gulag prisoners and workers used picks and shovels to mine coal then.The mine started producing coal before 1950 with a production capacity of 1 million tons of coal per year.Today, about 22 million tonnes of coal are extracted annually with non-stop work at the mine for 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.
