Ancient Turkish city of Ephesus reopens for nighttime tours
IZMIR, TÜRKİYE - JUNE 4, 2026: The ancient city of Ephesus, a UNESCO World Heritage site, has officially reopened to visitors during nighttime hours as part of a newly launched 'night museum' initiative featuring specialized artistic illumination.Located in the Selcuk district of western Izmir province, the prominent Greco-Roman archaeological site has begun welcoming evening travelers under a strategic program designed by Türkiye’s Culture and Tourism Ministry.Under the newly established schedule, Ephesus will admit night visitors between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m., with all guests requested to vacate the historical grounds by 11 p.m.The project is aimed at enhancing the tourism experience by allowing visitors to comfortably explore the expansive ancient city during the cooler evening hours, bypassing the intense heat of the summer sun.A special lighting systems has been installed to highlight the city's iconic architectural landmarks, including the monumental Celsus Library, Agora Square, Curetes Street, the Temple of Domitian, the massive ancient theater, and the remarkably preserved Terrace Houses.
